Sjodalen starts at the mouth of the river Gjendes at Gjendesheim and ends in the rafting paradise of Heidalen. Between these two extremes, the valley is full of beautiful mountain pastures, exciting cultural history, primeval forests, legends, fairy tales - and not least the evergreen glacial river Sjoa.
Sjodalen offers a wealth of beautiful gravel roads and trails, has a relatively flat elevation profile and is therefore suitable for virtually every shape, form and cycling ability.
Our favourites include the magnificent wooden bridge over the fascinating Veogjelet, the view over the green Sjoa river with high mountains on all sides, historic reindeer trapping facilities - and of course the dizzying Ridderspranget (Knight's Leap) where the great Sigvat Leirholar from Valdres jumped over in the 13th century with the stunningly beautiful Vågå girl "Skårvangssola" and a furious knight Eldjarn from Vågå at his heels.
